PSL 2023: Playoffs Lineup Confirmed

PSL 2023

PSL 2023 league stage fixtures concluded with Karachi Kings hammering league leaders Lahore Qalandars by 86 runs in Sunday’s second and final fixture. Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Islamabad United, and Peshawar Zalmi made the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023.

Lahore Qalandars will face Multan Sultans in Qualifier 1. The Shaheen Shah Afridi-led team finished top of the standings with seven wins in ten games. Meanwhile, Multan Sultans clinched the second spot after back-to-back wins in their last two matches.

The Qalandars won both fixtures against Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans in the league stage.

February 13: Lahore Qalandars beat by Multan Sultans 1 run

March 4: Lahore Qalandars grabbed a 21-run win over Multan Sultans

 

Islamabad United vs Peshawar Zalmi

Successive defeats saw Islamabad United end up third in the points table. However, the two-time PSL champions have set up an Eliminator clash with Peshawar Zalmi, who finished fourth courtesy picking ten points from as many games this season.   

Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi have grabbed a win each in the two meetings between both teams in the 2023 season.

February 23: Islamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 6 wickets

March 12: Peshawar Zalmi claimed a 13-run win against Islamabad United

 

Playoffs Schedule

The playoffs will begin with the Qualifier 1 clash between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on March 15. Islamabad United takes on Peshawar Zalmi at the same venue on March 16. The 2nd Eliminar clash – the loser of Qualifier 1  against the winner of Eliminator – is on March 17.

March 15: Qualifier 1 – Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans (7:30 PM)

March 16: Eliminator 1 – Islamabad United vs Peshawar Zalmi (7:30 PM)

March 17:  Eliminator 2 (7:30 PM)

 

 

Final

 

The PSL 2023 final is on March 18. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, which hosts playoffs, will be the venue. The winner of Qualifier 1 and winner of Eliminator 2 will fight it off in the eighth edition of the PSL.



PSL 2023 Stats

 

Multan Sultans’ Mohammad Rizwan and uncapped pacer Abbas Afridi lead the batting and bowling charts this season. Rizwan has scored 483 runs, including a hundred and four fifties, at a strike rate of 145. On the other hand, Abbas has clinched 22 wickets in nine outings. He has claimed a five-wicket haul and two four-fers.
