LSG IPL | Top Buys & Full Squad in IPL 2023

LSG IPL

LSG IPL franchise made a dream start to their IPL journey after reaching the eliminator stage in the 2022 season. Intending to pick up from where they left off last season, the franchise made some excellent buys in the auction and has assembled a strong team for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

LSG IPL – New Arrivals

Jason Holder, Evin Lewis, Andrew Tye, Dushmantha Chameera, Manish Pandey, Ankit Rajpoot, and Shahbaz Nadeem were shown the door by Lucknow Super Giants. England pacer Mark Wood featured in the retained players despite missing the IPL 2022 due to an elbow injury.

Lucknow Super Giants, who will play their home fixtures at BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, roped in Nicholas Pooran to replace Evin Lewis, who failed to find his groove last year. Pooran didn’t have the best of the IPL 2022 campaign, but the Lucknow Super Giants think-tank rates the 27-year-old highly.

The franchise also bought three overseas pace bowlers – Daniel Sams, Romario Shepherd, and Naveen Ul Haq. Left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat, who returned to the national team after a gap of 12 years, and veteran spinner Amit Mishra, too, were added to Lucknow Super Giants’ roster.

Lucknow Super Giants Players – Expensive Buys

Nicholas Pooran became the most expensive West Indian in IPL history thanks to Lucknow Super Giants purchasing him for Rs 16 crore. Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Delhi Capitals were interested in the left-handed batter who captained the West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2022.

With a big chunk of their remaining cash purse spent on Pooran, Lucknow Super Giants had to make smart deals to complete their squad for the season. Daniel Sams, who played for Mumbai Indians last season, was bought for Rs 75 lakh – the second-best purchase of the franchise. Amit Mishra, Romario Shepherd, Naveen Ul Haq, and Jaydev Unadkat cost Rs 50 lakh each.
