MI vs SRH IPL 2023 Match Preview & Prediction | Match 69

MI vs SRH

MI vs SRH is the penultimate league stage fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. Hosts Mumbai Indians (MI) must win by a big margin to retain their playoff hopes. The five-time champions will hope Gujarat Titans (GT), led by former MI player Hardik Pandya, could do them a favor by picking up two points against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has no playoff scenarios to be concerned about. However, the IPL 2016 winners can deny MI a last-four spot and lift themselves to ninth in the points table. Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will host this interesting IPL fixture on Sunday at 3:30 PM.

Mumbai Indians

MI batting unit is expected to fire on all cylinders on a good batting track. Suryakumar Yadav has been in sensational form at Wankhede. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma can frustrate the bowlers in the powerplay, while Cameron Green and Nehal Wadhera can maintain the tempo in the middle overs. MI batters are too good at home.

The bowling unit is a concern as the pacer bowlers haven’t met the expectations. However, leg-spinner Piyush Chawla turned back the clock with some terrific performances so far. He reached 20 wickets for the first time in an IPL season and is someone MI will rely on for breakthroughs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Will SRH’s batting unit come well in a batting-friendly track? Heinrich Klaasen is the only in-form batter in the SRH squad. The likes of Aiden Markram, Rahul Tripathi, Harry Brook, and Mayank Agarwal have been disappointing. A few uncapped players might get a chance to impress on Sunday.

SRH has an excellent blend of experienced and young players in its bowling department. However, they all have struggled to fire together. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan haven’t been able to make much of an impact in the powerplay. Meanwhile, Umran Malik and Washington Sundar didn’t get enough opportunities. Only Mayank Markande excelled in the spin department.
