LSG vs RCB is a clash between two teams who could go the distance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. However, both teams will be hoping to be more consistent after suffering a few surprising defeats this season. Lucknow Super Giants grabbed a big win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday, while Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) tasted defeat in their last game.

Lucknow Super Giants 

LSG batters produced a stellar show in their last game. Marcus Stoinis, Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran, and Ayush Badoni helped the franchise register a mammoth 257 against PBKS. It was the second-biggest  total in the history of IPL. Stoinis and Mayers hit half-centuries, while Pooran and Badoni played quickfire knocks,

It would be interesting to see who will replace Stoinis, who hurt his finger against PBKS. LSG has two all-rounders – Daniel Sams and Romario Shepherd – and Quinton de Kock is another option. The franchise will likely retain Naveen-ul-Haq in the playing 11, while uncapped Yash Thakur made his opportunity count after picking up 4/37 on Friday. 

Royal Challengers Bangalore 

The focus will be on RCB’s middle order after another failure this season. Virat Kohli made a half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in pursuit of a big total, but apart from Mahipal Lomror, no other batter upped their game. Dinesh Karthik fell for 22, while Shahbaz Ahmed and Suyash Prabhudessai scored five and ten, respectively. 

Mohammed Siraj, who took three wickets against LSG in Bengaluru this season, is the pick of the bowlers in the RCB bowling attack, which has conceded 200+ totals four times this season. Wanindu Hasaranga had a good outing against KKR, picking up two wickets for 24 runs in four overs. Meanwhile, Vyshak Vijay Kumar, too, picked up two wickets but gave away 41 runs.

RCB has clinched two wins in three outings against LSG in IPL. Both the wins came last season, while the Lucknow-based team registered a one-run win over Faf du Plessis’ RCB in Bengaluru this season.
