Riding on classy knocks from Ruturaj Gaikwad (57 off 31 balls) and Devon Conway (47 off 29 balls), CSK had managed to post a mammoth total of 217/7 on board. However, CSK spinners-Moeen Ali (4/26) and Mitchell Santner (1/21) managed to apply the brakes, eventually helping CSK to a close 12-run win.
LSG had won the toss and opted to field first, and the decision backfired as Gaikwad and Conway gave CSK a brilliant start. Both added 110 runs for the first wicket.
