IPL 2023 Auction CSK Players – New Arrivals

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had released three key players ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. Dwayne Bravo and Robin Uthappa announced their retirement, while the franchise parted ways with England’s Chris Jordan. The players retained include Ravindra Jadeja, Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali, etc.

Ben Stokes, signed for a CSK-record fee of Rs 16.25 crore, is a like-for-like replacement for Bravo. CSK bought Kyle Jamieson at a base price of Rs 1 crore. The Kiwi international bolsters CSK’s pace department, which has the likes of Deepak Chahar, Dwaine Pretorius, Mukesh Choudhary, Matheesha Pathirana, Tushar Deshpande, etc.

Ajinkya Rahane, first player bought in the mini auction, is likely to be the backup opener. The ‘Men in Yellow’ bought two 18-year-olds, Nishant Sindhu and Shaik Rasheed, who both were part of India’s successful 2022 U19 World Cup campaign in West Indies.

IPL 2023 Auction CSK – Expensive Buys

England all-rounder Ben Stokes is Chennai Super Kings’ most expensive player in IPL history. CSK splashed 16.25 crore for the Englishman, who surpassed Deepak Chahar’s record of Rs 14 crore in IPL 2022. However, Chahar failed to play a single game last season due to a back injury. The CSK faithful will be hopeful that Stokes will be available for the entire 2023 IPL season.

New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson was CSK’s second-most expensive signing in the IPL 2023 auction. The franchise think-tank bought the 27-year-old at his base price of Rs 1 crore. Jamieson, who skipped last season’s IPL, picked up nine wickets from as many outings at an economy rate of 9.60 in the 2021 edition.

Teenager Nishant Sindhu is a player to watch out for CSK in the upcoming season. With Rs. 60 lakh, he became the MS Dhoni-led side’s third most expensive signing in the 2023 auction. Nishant, also handy with the ball, guided India to victory in the 2022 U19 World Cup final with an unbeaten half-century.
